ONWARD: GOETHE QUOTES

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a German writer best known as the author of  the drama FAUST.  Goethe wrote drama, poetry,  and literature with themes of theology, humanism, and science.  Goethe questioned if humans have free will and if an individual can have a truly good experience of life if they are repressed from society and convention or repressed out of fear.  From his writings and conversations many quotes have been taken.  I am posting a few of Goethe's quotes here for contemplation and encouragement as we move onward into this new year,

"There is strong shadow where there is much light."

"Deeply earnest and thoughtful people stand on shaky footing with the public."

"Daring ideas are like chessmen moved forward.  They may be beaten, but they may start a winning game."

"Keep not standing fixed and rooted.  Briskly venture, briskly roam."

"Life belongs to the living and he who lives must be prepared for changes."

"The greatest thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving."
